Statement by the League of Revolutionaries for a New America

Three days into the new year, after months of lethal attacks and coercive threats, the Trump administration sent the U.S. militarily to invade Venezuela and abduct President Nicolas Maduro. He was flown to the United States, ostensibly to stand trial.  The Trump administration’s long-standing allegation that Venezuela was a major player in narcotics trafficking to the U.S. was the rationale, for which no concrete evidence was produced.

The impunity with which the Trump administration openly flouted international law with regard to Venezuela was shocking, but not new.  Control of Venezuela’s rich oil reserves had been central to U.S. policy toward the country for decades.  After the operation, President Trump openly boasted that the U.S. was now in control of Venezuela and was going to “take back our oil.”

Trump’s grandiose candor expressed U.S. foreign policy in the 21st century “writ large”.  For 250 years our Republic’s growth was maintained by a system rooted in exploitation and plunder, to achieve the status of greatest economic and military power in the world.  However, though capitalism was capable of producing a billionaire class it will never be able to resolve inequality. Capitalism needs a working class and the poor wherever it functions in the world, to generate its wealth and bear the cost of the wasteful excesses necessary to sustain it. That includes its so-called “forever wars.”

A just, peaceful and healthy society would focus on development, keeping central the needs of its working people. That means eliminating poverty, raising living standards, and ending wars and all threats to Nature and humanity. Are we willing to fight for that?

Artificial Intelligence could guarantee basic needs for everyone. Fascism is AI in the wrong hands – capitalist corporations. Successfully resistance will require working class unity.

Uniting Beyond Separate Struggles

As technology replaces people “these bastards are stealing money from the poor for the 1%”. Survival, and justice, depend on workers fighting fascism as a class.

From the Defensive to the Offensive Against Fascism

This is class warfare – taking over the media and universities while Democrats just compromise. An offensive against fascism can start the offensive against capitalism.

Bay Area Defeats the Border Patrol Surge

The Border Patrol was pushed out of the Bay Area by thousands uniting beyond race and immigration status. Unity can win a nation based on human needs instead of private profit.

Fascism Attacks Higher Education

Trump’s attacks on universities reveal how fascism operates with open criminality, facilitated by the politics of compromise of university leaders and corporate Democrats. Attacking equity and inclusion means that treating all people equally is formally rejected. MAGA offers only the rhetoric of white supremacy, since most working class whites won’t be able to afford higher ed or other “privileges.”
